TDS's "Snow Queen" Shelved

TDS's "Snow Queen" Shelved

A new program originally scheduled to open at Tokyo DisneySea in summer 2007 has apparently been cancelled. "The Snow Queen" slated to premiere in the Broadway Music Theater as a permanent replacement to "Encore!" has stopped pre-production.

The show's director, Amon Miyamoto, is reportedly still on the project. Reports claim a reluctance on the part of Oriental Land Company to put more money into the production led to the cancellation. The show's soundtrack, composed by Alan Menken, already had a Japanese translation worked out for the local production.

Currently, the jazz revue show, "Big Band Beat", is being performed at the venue. It is part of the Park's 5th anniversary celebrations. It was originally supposed to run until next March but will be extended indefinitely. A Christmas version of the show is expected from this November.

More details to come.
