OLC To Build Permanent Cirque du Soleil Theatre

A Permanent Cirque du Soleil Theater to Open at Tokyo Disney Resort
URAYASU, CHIBA - Oriental Land Co, Ltd. (Headquarters: Urayasu-shi, Chiba-ken / President: Toshio Kagami) has reached an agreement with Cirque du Soleil (Headquarters: Montreal, Quebec, Canada / CEO: Guy Laliberte) and The Walt Disney Company (Headquarters: Burbank, California, U.S.A. / CEO: Michael Eisner) to open a permanent theater within Tokyo Disney Resort for the world-famous entertainment group, Cirque du Soleil. This will be Cirque du Soleil's first permanent theater and show in Japan and its first permanent venture outside North America. Cirque du Soleil will develop an original show exclusively for this theater, adding an exciting new entertainment component to Tokyo Disney Resort.
Oriental Land Company had been examining the possibility of installing a theater to offer Guests a new and appealing way to enjoy Tokyo Disney Resort. Believing that in the theater business the content of the shows is of the utmost significance, Oriental Land Company, with the help of The Walt Disney Company, successfully reached an agreement with Cirque du Soleil, which is renowned for its original, high-quality, innovative entertainment.
Cirque du Soleil is proceeding with the development of an original show which is scheduled to premiere in 2008. Once the new theater opens, Guests visiting Tokyo Disney Resort will discover even more world-class entertainment than ever before, further enhancing the appeal of the Resort and attracting even more Guests.

From a group of twenty street performers at its beginnings in 1984, Cirque du Soleil has grown to become a major Quebec-based organization providing high-quality artistic entertainment, with nearly 3,000 employees from over 40 different countries, including 700 artists.
Since its inception in 1984, Cirque du Soleil has brought wonder and delight to more than 50 million spectators over 100 cities on four continents. In 2005, Cirque du Soleil will present 11 shows simultaneously throughout the world. "Alegría 2" is currently touring Japan. Cirque du Soleil has received such prestigious awards as the Emmy, Drama Desk, Bambi, ACE, Gémeaux, Félix, and Rose d'Or de Montreux.
